I've been a bit amused by the big "to-do" over Tim Russert's death. Don't get me wrong - I am a huge Tim Russert fan and am as sad as the next person that he won't be around to help us through the impending mire of the November elections. What bothers me a bit is the "it can't be", "it's not right", "it's not fair" that I'm hearing. All of those things are indeed true - but it is and it is right and it is fair - it is life and God is in control. It's as if we all realize once again how fragile our lives are and that death is not partial to anyone:) It can happen to young people and it can happen to old people and it can happen to kids. It will happen to all of us. Our job is to live each day to the fullest and for His glory as long as God allows us to remain here on earth!

God doesn't promise us tomorrow but He does promise us eternity - filled with life and love that we cannot comprehend - and in the meantime gives us timeless truth that will help us weather any future storm. His love for us gives us the ability to sit back and appreciate the wonder of every moment. The mere thought of death somehow makes every blessing vivid, every happiness more intense. We do not know how our lives will end but we can know the incredible love of God.
